In Charleston, SC yesterday Trump gleefully told an apocryphal legend of General Pershing executing Muslim prisoners using bullets soaked in pig’s blood:

“(Pershing) took fifty bullets, and he dipped them in pig’s blood. And he had his men load his rifles and he lined up the fifty people, and they shot 49 of those people. And the fiftieth person he said ‘You go back to your people and you tell them what happened.’ And for 25 years there wasn’t a problem, okay?”

According to snopes.com, there is little evidence that this incident occurred, and would be in direct opposition to Pershing’s previous strategy of containing the insurgency and persuading them to surrender. Additionally, in the entire Bud Dajo campaign there were only twelve Moro casualties.
