Yesterday Donald Trump tweeted the following:
President Obama’s church attendance at various Christian churches throughout his life is well documented. He and his family currently attend an Episcopal church in Washington DC. Though the Obama family’s church attendance is irregular, both Obama children have been baptized and the President frequently invokes God while speaking.
It is an ironic stance for Trump to take, as last week’s scandal found Trump attacking Pope Francis for questioning his faith. Trump lobbed plenty of vitriol at Pope Francis before both sides backed down and cooled off.
President Obama and Michelle did attend a more private viewing of Scalia’s body on Friday in the Great Hall. Vice President Joe Biden did attended the funeral. The White House stated that the security footprint for the President would have been disruptive to the deeply religious Catholic service, and that a more private viewing was “an appropriate and respectful arrangement.”
