Donald Trump has coined another juvenile nicknamed for a political rival in “Goofy” Elizabeth Warren. The Senator from Massachusetts went on the offensive on Twitter this week as Trump again questioned her Native American heritage and painted her as Hillary Clinton’s “flunky.” Full disclosure, WDTLAY is based in Oklahoma, Warren’s home state.
So this was Trump’s shot today:
“She has done nothing!” That seems like a fact that we can check. Since just April of 2013 Sen. Warren has sponsored 36 bills in the Senate. Here are a couple that she has sponsored just in 2016:
S. 2789: Tax Filing Simplification Act of 2016
S. 2761: FAA Community Accountability Act of 2016
S. 2744: Genetic Research Privacy Protection Act
S. 2647: Behavioral Health Coverage Transparency Act of 2016
S. 2624: National Biomedical Research Act
S. 2598: Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act
S. 2578: Reducing Unused Medications Act of 2016
If you want more information on these bills, or the others she has sponsored, check out GovTrack.us, a fascinating site worth your time.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is also a member of several committees:
Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Economic Policy
Member, Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection
Member, Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment
Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
Member, Subcommittee on Energy
Member, Subcommittee on National Parks
Member, Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests, and Mining
Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
Member, Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security
Senate Special Committee on Aging
She also has not missed a vote in the Senate since July of 2014, with an overall absentee rate of just 1.1%, well below the Senate average of 1.6%.
Time Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential People In The World in 2009, 2010 and 2015. Along with Sen. John McCain she has also introduced an update version of the Glass-Steagall Act, which could revolutionize the way the banking industry is regulated for th 21st Century.
Mr. Trump, you could pick on Sen. Mark Rubio for his absenteeism in the Senate, but if you want to call someone a “flunky” and a do-nothing, I would suggest someone other than Elizabeth Warren.
